Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to transform our world. They are a call to action to end poverty and inequality, protect the planet, and improve the lives of everyone.

In 2015, all the countries in the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It sets out 17 goals, which were developed as a universal call to action.

How are we meeting the goals?

We want to strengthen the work we are undertaking across Better Lives Foundation to tackle poverty and inequality, the climate emergency, environmental degradation, and to increase prosperity for Sierra Leone.

Our focus is around the six goals below:

Our work is also aligned to the four key national goals below identified by Sierra Leone, emerging from the consultative process and grounded in the developmental state model for this plan period:

Goal 1: A diversified, resilient green economy

Goal 2: A nation with educated, empowered, and healthy citizens capable of realising their fullest potential

Goal 3: A society that is peaceful, cohesive, secure, and just

Goal 4: A competitive economy with a well-developed infrastructure
